Introduction

Ecrox Chain is a public Layer 1 blockchain built around one idea: people should be able to use blockchain applications without paying a fee for every action. The network runs Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus, executes Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and operates with a gas price of 0 gwei.

Around the chain sits the Ecrox ecosystem: 22 products covering trading, payments, banking, insurance, entertainment, travel, shopping and gaming. Ecrox Chain is the shared settlement layer, and Ecrox Coin (ECROX) is the shared asset.

The problem with gas

On most public blockchains every transaction carries a fee paid in the native coin. That works for large transfers but breaks everyday use: a game move, a tip to a creator or a small payment can cost more in gas than it is worth, and new users must buy the native coin before they can do anything.

Ecrox Chain removes that barrier. With gas priced at zero, applications can record every action on-chain and onboard users who hold nothing but the asset they came to use.

Consensus: Delegated Proof-of-Stake

Blocks are produced by a set of validators selected through delegated stake. ECROX holders delegate to validators they trust; validators with sufficient backing join the active set, produce and sign blocks, and share rewards with their delegators after commission.

DPoS keeps the validator set small and well-resourced, which gives fast block times and low energy use. Because the network is secured by stake rather than by fees, it can run with a gas price of zero. The consensus and block-reward contracts were reviewed by CertiK in November 2023.

EVM compatibility

Ecrox Chain runs the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Contracts written in Solidity deploy without changes, and standard tools work out of the box: Hardhat, Foundry, Remix, ethers.js, web3.js, MetaMask and OpenZeppelin libraries. Developers add the network with chain ID 988207 (0xf142f) and the RPC endpoint https://mainnet-rpc.ecroxscan.com/.

Zero-gas transactions

Transactions on Ecrox Chain are submitted with a gas price of 0 gwei. They still carry a signature, nonce and gas limit, so the EVM’s execution limits and replay protection apply as usual. What changes is cost: sending ECROX, swapping on Ecrox Swap or interacting with any contract costs the user nothing in network fees.

This unlocks designs that are uneconomic elsewhere: micro-payments, per-view rewards on streaming and short-video apps, on-chain game state and high-frequency settlement between ecosystem products.

Ecrox Coin (ECROX)

ECROX is the native coin, with 18 decimals. Its roles are staking and validator bonding, governance, and use as the common currency of the ecosystem. Official supply and allocation figures are published at ecroxcoin.io and can be verified on EcroxScan.

The Ecrox ecosystem

The ecosystem is organised in four groups:

  • Chain and infrastructure: Ecrox Chain, Ecrox Coin, Ecrox Wallet, Blockchain Developers and Hylox Security.
  • Trading: Ecrox Exchange (CEX), Ecrox Swap (DEX), Eacx Exchange (perpetuals) and Botako (arbitrage trading).
  • Payments and finance: Panda Pay, EUSD Coin, Ecrox Gold, Fiat Swap, Ramp with Ecrox, Ecrox Bank and Assurous Insured.
  • Apps and entertainment: Cinex OTT, Hukoko, Bookago, Bobigo, Loot Wars and Ecrox Gaming.

Each product can use ECROX and settle on Ecrox Chain, so value earned in one product can be spent, traded or saved in another without fees between them.

Interoperability

As an EVM chain, Ecrox Chain is compatible with Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain tooling and assets. Bridges move tokens between networks, while Fiat Swap and Ramp with Ecrox connect the chain to bank money.

Governance

Protocol upgrades, network parameters and ecosystem funding are decided through proposals and stake-weighted votes. Delegators can follow their validator’s vote or cast their own. Approved changes are applied by validators in coordinated upgrades.

Security

Security work covers independent audits, a bug bounty for responsible disclosure and operational standards for validators: separated signing keys, monitoring and tested recovery. Users keep custody of their own keys; Ecrox will never ask for a recovery phrase.
